What’s a great way to increase stature in your field and show off your expertise? Publish a book. In this ephemeral digital world, a book makes your story permanent and places it, literally, into your audience’s hands. The educators at one of Washington, D.C.’s public charter schools, Integrated Design & Electronics Academy (IDEA), knew their story would “surprise, enlighten, and resonate” with those interested in learning more about the challenges and potential of the charter school experience. When the school was awarded a dissemination grant from the U.S.
Department of Education to support and open new charter schools, IDEA turned to Beth Singer Design to be its partner in the exciting endeavor. |

| BSD became passionately immersed in the project. Our tour of the school inspired us to capture on the book’s pages what we saw in the school’s halls: the teacher fervor and student pride was palpable. BSD’s long-time collaborator/writer, John DiConsiglio, helped IDEA develop the highly informative, yet engaging, narrative history. Concurrently, the photos that emerged from BSD’s collaboration with photographer Mark Finkenstaedt provide an emotional and visual testimony to the success of IDEA's unique educational approach. |
