Teacher Awards Recruitment Campaign

For four years we collaborated on a multi-disciplinary team to revive a 20-year-old national awards program of the National Science Foundation (NSF) — the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching (PAEMST). We assisted NSF in its program goals of significantly increasing the ethnic and geographic pool of awardees, making the program a feather in the cap of school districts and teachers, securing local and national media coverage, and most importantly, focusing the spotlight on superior teachers, thereby raising the national interest in the teaching profession.

With our involvement, the education community, applicants, and awardees experienced an entirely new set of professional materials, relevant to today’s world, and carrying the program’s key messages consistently and boldly. In addition, press coverage of the program increased from just 144 placements when we started, to 1,091 within three years. In addition, the number of applicants and scope of ethnicity and geographic diversity measurably increased within the first 18 months.
